The most secluded of the four cottages, The Cape has its own private yard separated by a natural foliage line around the lawn. It has all the trappings of the Glenaire experience; incredible views and plenty of space to lounge. Take in both when you sit in the hanging chair and look out the side window over the gully.
Split system heating and cooling makes for a perfect year-round retreat that is especially snug and warm in the Winter with its indoor spa bath, electric blankets and a crackling log fire! The best view of the lot, The Forest takes in the ocean to Aire River, the lush valley and surrounding bush land. ‘God’s country’ as the locals call it, all in one sweep. With room for up to five guests, The Forest has a generous sloping lawn at its feet with plenty of play area for the kids, or sit and hand feed the curious Rosellas. Whether it’s lunch on the picnic table, reading a book in the hanging chair or just taking a seat to enjoy the perfect morning coffee, the Forrest’s long deck has plenty of space for a family to sit and take in all the area has to offer.
Inside, Forest is a fun, vintage-styled affair. Make some cocktails in ‘70s coloured glass wear, put on a record, light a fire and lounge on the comfortable, velvety sofa. The cabin includes split system heating and cooling to ensure your stay is comfortable. To really wind down, take a spa in the deep single person spa tub with a glass of wine and a book, while taking in the views from indoors.

Perched high atop a ridge, the view from Glenaire Cottage’s Top House is generously carved out of the Otways forest and affords a vista through the rolling pastures of the Aire River Wildlife Reserve out to the open ocean. This premium residence was hand-built using mud-brick and local timbers in a style that’s part Australian bush retreat, part Spanish abode.
The gorgeous view can be absorbed from the deck, soaking in the outdoor spa, or seated around the fire pit feeding the rosellas and vibrant red-headed Gang Gang cockatoos — all on the ocean-side of the property. But perhaps the best vantage point is sitting inside the barrel sauna, gazing at the ocean out of the full-height dome as you let your worries melt away.
The open plan living room is spacious, but cosy, with a central fireplace surrounded by a warming stone hearth. You don’t have to travel far for great meals, as the kitchen features a commercial-sized gas cooktop and oven as well as modern appliances including a café-spec La Marzocco espresso machine. Transfer down a step to the sunken dining room and enjoy your meal — and the view — around the table together.
If you do want to venture out in the Spring and Summer months, The Perch at Lavers Hill provides a fantastic dining experience and atmosphere only ten minutes away. The Top House is an exquisite getaway for a large family or group of friends with three bedrooms sleeping seven guests:
Bedroom 1 – queen bed, Bedroom 2 – queen bed, Bedroom 3 -double bed with single bunk.

Man, I tell you, they’ve found some beauties down there. From the Pet Friendly Accommodation on the Great Ocean Road in Torquay nearly all the way to Warrnambool, this road just goes on forever! Have you seen those whales way down there – not sure what the humans see in those big lumps in the sea – I’m never allowed to go and check them out! Great place for checking out the Pet friendly accommodation on the Great Ocean Road there though, they say.
